Life At NITK MBA Hostel..
MBA…This very term imparts a sense of sophistication and maturity to everyone regarding the students studying this course but the life at the MBA hostel NITK is quite different and ardent comparatively.
When the MBA students, after a hard day of classes, presentations and assignments, return to their respective rooms in the MBA hostel, a frivolous side to their daily schedule can be witnessed.
The favorite sport, for MBA students, nearly every evening is playing cricket in our hostel out-lawns in which we are often joined in by various day scholars and engineering students.
The most celebrated event in our hostel is the “Birthday” of any of our hostel mates. It is celebrated as a total boy thingy i.e. cutting the cake which seldom reaches anyone’s stomach as the birthday boy is immediately smothered with it. This is followed by a sequence of otherwise loathly acts such as a shower of eggs, soaking in water and some more events that I leave to your imagination.
The weekends in Kurukshetra, as majority of us will agree to, are boring and distasteful.
If there isn’t a deadline of assignments for Monday, laziness prevails in MBA hostel like every other hostel but we have found a crude but enjoyable solution to this as well. This includes activities that an otherwise sane person will not recommend you. Two of these activities are known as “The kambal kutai” and “The gudguddi attack”.
The kambal kutai, as most of the guys will know, is an activity of catching a target by a group and throwing a volley of friendly blows on his back by covering him in a kambal (blanket). This is used as an activity to fling the laziness away, especially in winters when you get “warmth” of the unseen and casual beating as a bonus. A reluctant person, however, is not included in this session as it is for the sporty and willing kinds.
The gudguddi attack, on the contrary, is considered as a measure to give, the best medicine, i.e. laughter during the times of tension or eventless hours. Unlike kambal kutai, anyone and everyone fall to the prey of this activity as it is seemingly harmless. The prey is collectively selected by the group and held by all his limbs to avoid resistance. He, then, is tickled like a maniac until he laughs his brains out. Trust me it acts as a great stress buster.
To know other such activities, kindly visit our hostel but be very sure that you can be dragged in them at any time and without any prior information.
All this might make you think that MBA is enjoyable but the reality remains that you tend to enjoy more only when the pressure of studies is high...

ReplyDeleteThe word-of-mouth aspect of hostels is also useful, as the traveler can find out information about the best places to visit, and maybe acquire some company to join them.
